MRT Jakarta Defined as a Vital Transportation Object in Railway Sector

MRT Jakarta is officially designated as a Vital Transportation Object in the Railway Sector.

Its designation as one of the national vital objects will provide security certainty

It is stated in the Railways Director General Decree Number KP-DJKA 38/2023 dated February 10, 2023.

By doing so, security for tracks, stations, depots, and operating facilities such as the MRT Jakarta electricity substation is carried out based on internal security principles and provisions in laws and regulations regarding railways and guidelines for safeguarding national vital objects.

PT MRT Jakarta's Operation and Maintenance Director, Muhammad Effendi said his party appreciates and thanks the government for its full support for MRT Jakarta's role which concerns the lives of many people and has strategic value for the country, thus it is important to be designated as a national vital object.

"Thereby, MRT Jakarta will continue to establish solid cooperation with the Indonesian National Police (TNI) in determining the configuration of security standards, both the strength of personnel and security infrastructure," he expressed, Thursday (2/16).

He added MRT Jakarta is the first modern urban rail system in Indonesia whose presence has had a major economic and social impact on the country and society.

"Therefore, its designation as one of the national vital objects will provide security certainty in conducting its function as a modern urban railway system in Indonesia," he stated.
